New Toy

He has to really stretch to reach the pedals, so I guess I'll have to drive it around this year! Good thing it's a 2 seater! This thing sure goes fast!

How Bizarre

A Bob Dylan-esque type song, sung entirely in palindromes. Compliments of Wierd Al.

The Whigs

Another great band from that music hotspot of Athens, Georgia. Do yourself a favor and listen to the song "Technology" on their MySpace page. I heard that song a few weeks ago and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. Parker Gispert's vocals fit in perfect with the music.
Check out this Blender video made during the South by Southwest Music Festival.

Dead fish on the banks

By THE GOODNIGHT LOVING from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Found them whilest browsing bands at the SXSW Music Festival website. This song is called "Dead Fish On The Banks". It's an upbeat song with fun lyrics that appeal to the kid in all of us...

How can something living, die
Without ever feeling afraid?
Cemetary trails
When you're a kid
Scare you to death
But you go anyway
Sneak out of the house
Nobody's watching you
Cemetary trails

You can listen to the entire song here. Highly recommended!!!

Up The Road

About a quarter mile up the road from our house is a perpetual WINTER WHITE OUT where snowplows have to constantly work to keep the road open. I dread driving thru there when the snow is blowing across because it's usually one lane wide and you can't see shit. You just put you headlights and 4 way flashers on, hope you're going straight and no one is coming the other way. Today was the rare calm sunny day where you can see the depth of the snow.

Mashups

A musical genre of songs that consist entirely of parts of other songs.

I was surfing the web and found some sites that made mashup songs. I never heard of them so I gave a listen. Facinatingly bizarre! Theres a site called Pheugoo that features a bunch of mashup songs you can listen to. Check this one out that mixes the theme from Smokey and the Bandit with Usher, called Smokey and the Yeah. I kinda like it!

This is cool....

Check out this collection of very strange statues from around the world!

From The Archives

Back in the early to mid 80's, I was in a band called "The Spastic Five". There were anywhere from 4 to 7 people in the band, depending on who showed up. We didn't play out too often, and we weren't very good, but it was fun most of the time. Even when Indians were fighting on stage and knocking my drums over! I'll try and get a song clip up soon.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, blogger dosen't allow music uploads. I'll try and put a song up on one of my other sites and direct link it.

Staying Warm

The snow has finally ended but it's still bitter cold out. Nightime temperatures fall below zero. The highest it's been outside today was 6. But, it's nice and toasty inside the house, courtesy of the woodstove!

It's made of 1/2 inch thick steel, so once it gets hot, it stays hot! No matter what the temperature is outside, we can keep it above 70 in the house all winter long. The bricks heat up like a hot road in summer, and they're nice to stand on barefoot, especially after taking a shower. Don't touch your bare leg on the stove! That'll leave a mark! (I have a few). It's our only source of heat for the house and we burn about 12 face cord the entire winter. Buy it and stack it in summer, living by the motto "during good weather, prepare for the bad." Notice that 5 foot deep pile of snow out the window?

SNOW

Lake effect snow. This band has been over our area for 2 days now, with temperatures hovering between 0 and 5. It took about 4 hours of shoveling and snowblowing this morning to get the driveway and walk to the house cleaned up. Superbowl just started and it's still snowing hard, better than an inch an hour. Schools are already closed for tomorrow. Looks like I'll be doing the same thing in the morning.

Am. Zeros

Found this band while listening to music on Pandora. It's a website where you can type in the name of a band you like and it'll bring up similar artists. You can listen to some tunes on the American Zeros website. Check out "Spin". That was the one I got hooked on.

Started work on the flume today

It's been snowing enough lately to start working on the 2007 edition of the flume. Here's a clip from a past flume of what the ride is like.
